Sad Day for The Thundering Herd

We were so lucky back in September 2009 while in Chattanooga to visit with The Thundering Herd. We read their Blog each day and knew all 6 of these dogs had the BEST Home in the world. Today, our Heart is breaking as Kodiak went to the Rainbow Bridge. Please say a prayer for the entire gang. My Dear Sweet Mama - Summer 1998 - May 27, 2011

I knew things weren't quite right with you but I didn't expect to lose you so quickly. Mama was a feral cat when my husband and I started feeding her back in 1998 outside of our little store. When I realized you were feeding kittens I convinced John that you must be saved and he spent hours trying to capture the 5 little kittens. We found them homes and you became our store Ambassador, everyone loved you but I hated that you continued to roam especially on that busy street so you came home and never really liked Carolina or MrSippi. After they moved on to the Rainbow Bridge you thought you were a puppy dog, following me around the house, keeping the boys in line and putting up with them, especially Marco Polo dragging you around the house by the neck. But the Bedroom was your domain and if you were sleeping with me, the boys weren't allowed up there. I never figured out how you could keep them off the bed but they were afraid of you! Oh, I will miss your 5am wakeup telling me it was time to feed you. God Speed my Dear, Mama!

It finally stopped raining so Mom took us over to Gray's Lake, we saw some other Siberian Huskies, then we hiked down to Ball Park, saw the dam where the Des Moines and Raccoon River meet. It's really high with all of the rain, part of our trail was under water! We got to watch silly dogs swimming in the lake but we didn't cause we really don't like water that much!

Saturday, our bi-ped sister met us to go walking with Keelan, our newest little brother. Here he is walking with us!

Dear Friends,

Today, we had to help MrSippi over the Rainbow Bridge and we know he was greeted by his best Friend, Carolina. He got very ill last night and Mom knew something was terribly wrong with the little boy. The vets said he had a terrible infection and he was in awful pain. It's very sad at our house today. Mom and Dad found MrSippi on the 4th of July, 2000, in a ditch on the side of the road overlooking the muddy Mississippi river near Guttenberg, Iowa. He either was thrown or fell out of a car and his little face was all messed up and the plan was take him back to Des Moines and to the local animal rescue league but on the way home, we fell in love with the little kitty who couldn't even eat because his face was smashed in from the accident. We miss you terribly my little boy!

Hello Everyone, It's me, MrSippi.

No one told me that Australia is much much bigger than the state of Iowa but I finally made it to Huffle's home and we have a wonderful day together. Here we are just enjoying her beautiful back yard. It's quite lovely there.

We watched the birds on the telephone lines but we didn't try and catch them.

Good-byes are sad and my very dearest Huffle was sad when I said I had to head back across the ocean to my home in Iowa.

We such a great time, I promised to come back very soon and not to take a walk-about with kangaroos.

Hello Everyone, You probably remember our walks at the fairgrounds and the beautiful flower garden where Mom always makes us walk nicely and not dig. Last week, the area gardeners were busy planting and we couldn't go into the garden so early this morning we got to see what they did! Here we are sitting nicely in the rose garden area.

My Mom is proud - I was so obedient, not zooming around the ring, staying for my one minute sit and three minute down, even with birds flying over my head. Marco and I got cheeseburgers on the way home. I am now a Companion Dog. Whatever that means! Thor (sure, I can be good! Grinning from ear to ear).

mom took us walkin yesterday and we had great time "playing" with the woodland Critters! First, we wanted to visit the Marmet but Mom didn't get a picture cause she was busy trying to keep us from going down in his little house(hole in the ground). And of course, we wanted to go and run with the bunnies, again, Mom said NO. And just when she was ready to relax, we found our Bambi friends. Mom did get a pic before we charged them!!!

Well, we are back in Iowa and as you can see, we are still chewing on each other for entertainment. We do love each other!

This is the Bodie Lighthouse. You can't go inside of it or climb it!

Nights in Rodanthe Revisited

Here I am looking for Richard Gere. My Mom loves him and we found the house from Nights in Rodanthe. I figured I could take some of this sand home and we could sell it on EBay, saying Richard Gere ran on it in the movie? Then I could have $$$$$ to buy me toys and treats! Do you think it will work?

Here's the other side of the house. A big storm took out the bottom of the house and part of the decks and now the tide comes clear under the house so no one lives there anymore. But it's still beautiful but the purple shutters are gone.

Sunny Sunday in Iowa

We had a beautiful weekend. It was warm and sunny both days, helping Mom feel better because they cut her pay at work so she is sad but happy she at least has a job. Here we are at park with our bi-ped sister and her fur-kids. That's Princess Whisper next to Thor and Taylor is next to the princess's chariot.

WHO IS THIS? Mom found him watching us from the tree in our back yard. Thor and I would love to teach him a lesson for chattering at us.

Well, we aren't in short supply for snow in Iowa. It's still all over the ground after a warmup on Thursday and this morning we got 4 more inches and it's suppose to snow tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday. Here's how we spent the weekend. Here's MrSippi on his little castle watching over all of us.

MrSippi spent most of the sunny Sunday on our Pillow in the bedroom enjoying the sun! He is missing his lovely girlfriend Huffle, who lives so far far away.

Here's our best Christmas presents, Bully Sticks! And Mom says she has more!

Then, we aren't sure what happened but Mom was taking close-up pics and said something about toenails and smelly! What happened next was not fun! Our feet were trimmed and the nails were cut with the buzzie dremel and she locked us both in the bathroom. Here's Thor posing in his towel!

Here is the only good part of bathing and stuff. Mom gave us cookies after we looked at the camera! Ok - They are very good dog biscuits and we both got a couple. What can we say!

Ok - I know I'm pretty darn cute but MOM! Wrapping me in a towel and the finding this background like I'm the clouds!! The best part was, Mom did spent 5 whole days with us! We love holidays and Mom says there's more coming!!

Christmas Celebrations with our Fur-cousins

Our sister came to our house with her fur-kids and we went for a long walk on the icy trail because it was over 50 degrees, by the end of the day most of the snow and ice was gone.

It was foggy around our pond because of all of the melting. Cool, wasn't it!

After dinner, we got our new presents! Of course, I killed my squeakie! Right Away

The Princess got her very own stuffie too but she was busy resting after the long walk!

What a waste, Thor. Your furry stuffie still looks news? WHY, It still squeaks!!!

Taylor got a Gingerbreadman, and my sister wouldn't let me chew it for Taylor!!!

Thor got a new big bed and he is trying to hog it all, I think I should get to sleep on it too!

Where did the Weekend and Snow go?

Mom has been working too hard all week to upload our pictures until now. That's ok, she was just happy to still have a job after her company laid off 550 employees this week. Here we are enjoying the snow before it all melted yesterday.

See all of the Canadian Geese. Thor and I made sure they all got their daily bath after chasing them into the pond.

Some of them flew right over my head. If I hadn't been on leash, I could have had one.

See the Deer, Mom wouldn't let us chase them very hard into the woods, Darn it!

They jumped over this little creek and Mom said No Way!

Mom did stop working long enough to make us some pretty snow pictures.

Thor snow plows so he always has lots of snow on his face for pictures. The snow melted yesterday, it was 50 degrees and muddy this morning but now it's very cold, we are happy, Mom isn't!.

Are you seeing the 8 inches of snow? Nope, all we got was lots of ice ! Bummer, but finally today Mom did take us for a walk on the ice! Here we are practicing "being Good Dogs" Mom makes us sit quietly or it's no walk for us!

At least we still have snow on the ground and we enjoy playing in it!.

See, the ice on the trail, Mom said we had to walk carefully so she didn't fall on her bottom!
